Old Manco Intruder II
I picked up one of these off my nephew who bought it off someone else. it needed some work like new tires, fix the brakes, and remove all the springs and linkages on the carburetor which feed a governor. After I removed the linkage and simply hooked the gas pedal straight to the throttle with a little linkage bar I made out of a welding rod, the thing goes pretty fast. Actually it's more about it's ability to handle anything faster. If you were driving it on pavement you could open it up with no problem and drive it. But since we primarily drive it in a sand pit...with all the bumps the suspension is stiff and you'd be bouncing all over so opening it up is more difficult. Having said that...the suspension is probably the weak point. I'm not sure what the original intended use was for this go Kart but the suspension is stiff and it doesn't have the travel for going over any jumps/bumps without beating yourself to death. it's more like a...hit the gas pedal and get ready for a bumpy ride if you're off roading. Again, on the street it would be much smoother but the tires it came with almost say "Take me off road!". I gave it 4 stars because after was free!!!
